Introduction
COOHEM is a multi-active cooperative founded in 1990 in Cúcuta, Colombia. Originally created as the Cooperativa de Empleados del Hospital Erasmo Meoz, the organization has evolved into an entity that offers diverse financial and social services to more than 4,500 associates in the region.
Reasons for the redesign
COOHEM's previous website presented significant technical and design challenges that negatively affected the user experience:
- Excessively long loading times (approximately 18 seconds)
- Non-responsive design that hindered navigation on mobile devices
- Confusing and unintuitive structure of information.
- Lack of SEO optimization and adequate metadata for sharing on social networks.
- Outdated visual aesthetics that did not adequately reflect the cooperative's values.
Project objectives
- Optimize technical performance by reducing loading times to less than 3 seconds.
- To implement a responsive design compatible with all devices.
- Improve accessibility according to WCAG 2.1 guidelines
- Renew the visual aesthetics with a modern and professional approach.
- Optimize the information structure to facilitate navigation.
- Implement specific tools such as a credit simulator and a data update system for associates.
Design and development process
The project began with a thorough analysis of the existing site, identifying weaknesses and opportunities for improvement. Based on this diagnosis, it was developed:
